Woohoo! My new laptop (Trudie) arrived yesterday! So far I love it! It takes a little getting used to the mouse/touch pad and I am trying to get it all set up to the way I like it. I'm actually in the living room using it now! I really wish there was an easy way to transfer files and stuff between computers. I'll do some research because I am sure there is a way to share information between my PC and the laptop.

I went to Omega last night for a little bit. I didn't drink at all because I was just exhausted from the last couple of days that I really just wasn't in the mood.

I am SERIOUSLY craving chocolate cake! If you bring me some I'll be your best friend!!! I am sensing a trip to LoveCafe in y VERY near future.

Time to get my rear in gear. Have a good one!

For some reason I am just a bit tired today. Well not really tired but I feel like I am in a grey fuzzy cloud moving in slow motion. I hope it passes. I want to be bright eyed and bushy tailed for the play tonight!

Last night, I hung out with the Awesomeness that is Sean. It has been way too long! We had a good time yapping about this that and the other. We went to Eggspectation in Silver Sprung. Great food and cute waiter! I had the Crab Omelet and Sean had the Classic Egges Benedict. In case you couldn't tell from the name of the restaurant, they have a thing for eggs. Afterwards, we went on a DVD search! Sean was looking for "Dbwyraoa" (name scrambled to protect his MANLY image. LOL LOL), and I was looking for "Ju On" (the original The Grudge). Unfortunately, neither could be found. All in all it was a fun night and hopefully we will do it again soon (ARE YOU READING THIS CORBETT???)

Woohoo! I found both of the abovementioned DVD's (Who is the AWESOME one now? ;-) ) I got stuck in the Presidential bru-ha-ha that was going on at Arlington Cemetery on the way to the Best Buy in Patomac Yards but other than that, traffic was non-existant. Now I have to go over to my Gramma's and fix her windows, come home and prepare for the theater, find some vittles, and get some sleep! I really just wanted to play video games all day and straighten up a bit but i doesn't look like I will have any time for that at all.

Oh! I forgot to mention that they are taking out my Gramma's gall bladder today. She should be home tomorrow. And... 199 Lbs! 4-9 to go! Woohoo!

Today was pretty blah.

My computer died on me twice today and they finally got me a new one around 3:45...15 minutes before time to go. I spent most of the day doing whatever mundane task I could to fill the time until it was fixed. I can definitely live the rest of my life without EVER shredding another piece of paper.

On a high note, I managed to get 2 good tickets for Miss Saigon this Thursday! Woohoo! I was going to order them online but I REFUSE to pay 9.00 PER TICKET to Ticketmaster for a "Convenience Fee". What the frick ever! I just drove downtown and sure I had to circle the block 5 times but I did eventually find a space. Far better than being raped for convenience sake! It should be a good show.

My Gramma had tests run yesterday and it turns out she has Gall Stones. WOOHOO!!! That is a much better diagnosis than we were expecting so now we are all breathing a collective sigh of relief.

That's all for now! Can't wait for the holiday Thursday! Gotta love those government holidays! :-)

Hi folks! Hope everyone had a decent weekend! Mine was pretty good with the exception of my Grandmother being rushed to the hospital on Friday. She is still there as of today and they are running tests to see what is going on. I'm going to visit her tonight so maybe we will know something by then.

On a lighter note, I FINALLY went to Remmingtons! My friend Nick came over on Saturday and we had dinner (Crisp & Juicy...YUM!) and watched Saved (Mandy Moore is a RIOT in this movie!). Afterwards, we went to Remmingtons. This was my first time going and I was really impressed. Absolutely no attitude and the people were very friendly. I am so not used to that in the bars that I go to. The funny thing is, I have never been more frightened to get on a dance floor in my life! Usually, I am the first one out there doing my thing but, at Remmingtons, they do 2-stepping or line dances. Apart from the quickie lesson that Nick gave me before we left, I have NEVER 2-stepped in my life. It is kind of intimidating and strangely intoxicating seeing everyone going around the dance floor spinning, twirling, shuffling. Well I got my nerve up and Nick and I danced to a really slow one and I did fine. I did a little better on a fast number but I couldn't relax because I kept thinking we were going to run into something! Third time I went out on the floor with Jim and actually did MUCH better. He actually spun me around a couple of times! I had a GREAT time! I am going shoe (I HATE boots!) shopping this weekend and plan to attend the Beginner 2-Step classes starting on Nov. 22. It should be fun and at least I'll get to meet new people.

I am so glad that this is a short week! I REALLY need a mental break!

Oh! I ordered my laptop! And I finally have my own domain! SAMSSPACE.NET coming soon to a PC near you! I'll keep you updated as to when it goes live becuase my Blog may get transferred there (once I figure out Moveable Type!).

On a side note...I saw my first Christmas themed commercial today! DAMN! I still have the taste of candy corn in my mouth!!! I swear they start earlier and earlier every year!

Well it was a pretty good week overall:

Tuesday - Went to the High Heel Race in Dupont with my friend Lisa. We had a BLAST! It was so packed that we could barely move! Great/Creative costumes as usual. My personal faves were Siegfried and Roy (complete with wheelchair and stuffed tiger) and the men dressed as firemen in drag that called themselves "Ho's With Hoses". It was a beautiful night and the crowd was pretty well behaved. It just got a little too crowded. Also ran into my buddies Aaron (who I see all the time) and Stevie (who I haven't seen in almost a year!). Good times...good times... Unfortunately, when I got home, my throat felt like sandpaper! I feel a cold coming on.

Thursday - We had a GREAT office Halloween party! This was my third year in a row winning the Costume Contest! I went as a Toy Box! I had a decorated Box strapped to me full of toys and Beanie Babies and assorted playthings attached to my outfit. I was going to be a lion but decided to be more creative. I will try to post a pic. Last Year I was Undercover Brother and the year before that I was Blackula. We had loads of good food and drinks and everyone participated and had a good time. Throat hurts worse and it feels like I am downing glass when I swallow. :-(

Wednesday - I pretty much count the minutes until Lost comes on. EXCELLENT SHOW! I am nowhere near the TV junkie that I used to be and even though I have Tivo, Lost and Desperate Housewives I must watch live! (Actually I stagger it about 10 minutes so I can skip commercials. :-) )

Friday - Pretty boring day at work after yesterday's party. I got a lot of stuff done but am feeling even worse. I think I am locking myself in this weekend and watching nothing but horror movies, ending with Halloween. I also REALLY need to straighten up the apartment. Oh I also got a warning ticket today for not wearing my seatbelt. :rolling eyes: Why don't you arrest the drug dealer on the corner instead of harassing me for being reckless with my own life, huh?

Side notes:

If I see one more person wearing sandals/flip flops in this cold weather, I will beat them down myself!

Why did Hillary Howard leave Chan. 9 news??? She was my favorite weather person!

I love the Morning Mess on HOT99.5!. Teapot is hot!

I cannot BELIEVE they are doing a segment on Ashlee Simpson's SNL Lip Sync faux pas on 60 Minutes!!!

Is it possible for Jason Cameron and Andrew Dan-Jumbo to come to my apartment and nail something?

Will Sean REALLY come over and play when I get this in 3 weeks? ;-)

I stayed home from work today. Even though I wasn't feeling 100%, I managed to clean out the pantry, clean out the refrigerator, wash clothes, and wash dishes. Pretty much anything to keep my mind occupied and off of other things. *SIGH* Once October is over I will be back to my old cheerful, annoying self.

This is the worst time of year for my allergies. I love sleeping with the windows open because the air is so fresh and crisp but it wreaks havoc on my sinus and eyes. I keep forgetting to take my Allegra and I suffer for it daily. You think I would learn by now. Oh well. :-)

OK..Let's try this again.

Live Journal lost my last post because it was updating so I will try to type the gist of it again. GRRR!!!!

It has been AGES since I last posted. Lots has happened but nothing I really care to rehash in any detail. Here is the cliffs notes highlights version (sorry, can't remember dates!):

10 hours of video games with my friend Jim. He pretty much wiped the floor with me on Mario Kart Double Dash and Mario Golf and F-Zero and...

Dinner with the Ladies! Carraba's...Martinis...Great Food...EXCELLENT friends...One-Armed Waiter...Perfect Night!

A friend isn't talking to me because I am treating him like a "2nd Class friend" because I am starting to actually hang out with my other friends now. Oh well.

It is only Monday and I am already looking forward to the weekend. As for last weekend:

Saturday: Hung out with my friend Lisa. We went to Love Cafe and had coffee and a $7 piece of cake! The cake (Susie's A Pink Lady) was VERY good! Fresh raspberries between 3 layers of vanilla butter cake with pureed raspberries flavoring/coloring the icing. YUM! Lisa picked up 3 different slices for her boyfriend so that he could pick one for his birthday cake next month. The weather was beautiful and it was nice to get out.

Sunday: Cleaned the kitchen (Finally!). Cleaned Tivo. Played some video games. Made some burgers to have throughout the week (filled with Mozarella & pepperoni). Pretty low-key.

Now: Tired. Need to make brownies for work. Stomach has been feeling oogie all day. Feeling really meh.

Time to make the brownies...

The main source of my stress, funky attitude, and general non-socialness (yeah I know it isn't a word. Bite me!) over the last 3 weeks has now been ELIMINATED! I feel like a 500 lb. weight has been taken off of my shoulders and I can go back to my cheerful, nice, modest self! I actually hung out last night with Aaron (drug drop-off) and went book shopping. I am trying to find Sgt. Piggy's Lonely Hearts Club Comic. Couldn't find it at Books-A-Million or Kramer's so I will try the new Borders in Silver Sprung today.

New Smallville tonight! Tom Welling. YUMMY!

Yeah... I am feeling MUCH better! ;-)

This is absolutely my favorite time of year! The weather is changing. It is cool enough to wear a jacket yet warm enough for just long sleeves. This is also the time of year when I tend to be more introverted. Yeah Yeah I know... even more introverted than normal. :-) I haven't been out with the group in ages but I have been doing more 1 to 1 activities. I hung out with Aaron again this past Sunday. We had lunch at Thaiphoon and walked up to Love Cafe for dessert (YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY!) We walked back to the circle and people watched and chatted. There weren't nearly as many crazies as were out last week. Another low key, yet very enjoyable Sunday.

I think I am coming down with something! My eyes and throat are itching. My chest is really tight and my body aches. It feels like allergies +. Hopefully some OTC meds will fix me right up.

Ugh... tomorrow.... really not looking forward to it at all. *sigh*

The weather this weekend was GORGEOUS! Unfortunately, I spent most of Saturday inside cleaning. However on Sunday, I spent the afternoon with Aaron in Dupont Circle. We went to Teaism for ummm Linner (...it was 2:00 and the first meal that day for us both). I had the French Toast (YUMMY, but a little crispy), chocolate torte, green tea ice cream, and Ginger Lime-ade. After we ate we walked around and sat in the circle to people watch and talk. Someone must have turned up the Crazy knob because there were some LOONS out yesterday! Plus there were some HOTTIES! Made for great conversation. After going into several stores to browse, we went to COSI for Mango Slushies. We are figuring out what to do next week for "Low Key Sunday". Seems we both like to have pretty quiet relaxing Sundays to decompress and prepare for the upcoming week.

Upon arriving home, I decided to shave my head. I haven't shaved it since March(!). I had a good 2 inches going on up there! My hair is naturally wavy/curly and I was thinking of letting it grow out so that I could get twists. Changed my mind about that yesterday. Plus I got tired of people asking if I had a Jherri Curl (HELL NO!)So anyway, I am bald again and it feels great. The wind blowing through my lack of hair. I even got called sexy today! Twice! Sure it was from women but hey, a compliment is a compliment and I take them when I can get them! As I was shaving my head I thought...I really wish I had a man right now...because shaving the back of your head alone is a BITCH! I am getting better at it though. Not sure if that is necessarily a good thing...

I have to say...after the hell that was last week...this week is looking to be a good one!

I totally forgot to post about what a great experience I had at the DC Inspection Station yesterday!

No.. really... it was great!

I arrived at 6:350am and was out before 7am. I was third in line when I got there and the car went through w/out a hitch.

Let's just hope the good luck lasts at least through the weekend. I am in serious need of some good luck... and a gin and tonic!

I just happened to look over at my inspection sticker today and the dang thing expired in JUNE!!!!!!!!

Guess where I will be tomorrow morning!

At least the inspection is free and my car is still pretty new so nothing should need to be done to it.

*sigh*

It is times like this where I wish I had a man...to blame for not reminding me to get my car inspected!

This week has been an odd (and expensive!) one to say the least:

Brakes needed fixing...

Speeding ticket...

Flat tire...

Foreboding phone call...

The best thing that I can say about this week is we had our Labor Day cook-out and it was a lot of fun! My friend Aaron went with me and he really enjoyed himself. The biggest surprise was my Grandmother's sisters showed up! I haven't seen them in nearly 20 years! For once I didn't mind being called Sammy. Don't get any ideas though! Even my sister was there! I haven't seen her since May. Lots of good food...good laughs...good times (ANY TIME YOU NEED A PAYMENT!...)

I really am glad that my family is close by. No matter how bad my week is going or how bad I think things are, hanging with my family somehow makes things all better. They are a bunch of nuts but I love them. Being with them helps me to feel more grounded and gives me a sense of where I came from which usually helps me to get back into focus as to where I need to be going.

Sleeping Booty

Wow! I sat down to watch Scrubs tonight at around 6pm and the next thing I know, it is 11:00! I admit I have not been getting a lot of sleep lately. There's been a lot going on in this mind of mine. It'll all be taken care of soon enough.

Add another $220 to my car expenses! My brakes have been chirping for over 2 months now so I FINALLY went to get them taken care of. It just really sucks that 139 of that 220 is labor and even worse when I know that I can do my own brakes. I guess I paid the price for convenience.

That time of year is coming around again. I am one of those people that has seasonal depression. Not sure exactly if it really has to do with the changing of Summer to Fall or more that I have a lot of bad memories of events that all happened to have taken place during the Autumnal months. It usually just lasts about a week or so and then I am fine. Everybody's got their somethin', right?
